Bridge Structural Deformation Monitoring Using Digital Camera

Abstract Burgeoning off-the-selves Digital Single Lens Reflector (DSLR) cameras have been gaining attentions as a fast and affordable tool for conducting deformation monitoring of man-made engineering structures. When sub millimetre accuracy is sought, deliberate concerns their usage must be considered since lingering systematic errors in the imaging process plaque such non metric cameras. This paper discusses close range photogrammetric method to conduct structure bridge using digital DSLR camera. The located Malang Municipality, East Java province, Indonesia. There are more than 100 images bridge’s concrete pillars were photographed convergent network at distance variations between 5m 30m long on each epoch. Then, coordinates around 550 captured retro-reflective markers attached facade calculated self-calibrating bundle adjustment method. coordinate differences from two consecutive epochs detected with magnitude 0.03 mm 6 sub-millimetre precision measurement level. However, by global congruency testing localization testing, it confirmed that pillar’s structures remain stable those epochs.
